Aside from working Central Scottsdale residential and the general land markets, I’ve always been a sucker for historic neighborhoods and infill development opportunities. While researching some vacant lots owned by the City of Phoenix in the Garfield Historic District, a contact of mine at the city’s real estate acquisitions division let me know that a former fire station may be coming up for sale.
Former Phoenix Fire Station #5, located at 1401 E Thomas Rd, is on the city agenda August 29 to be sold, and they most likely will begin taking sealed bids mid-September. The building is approximately 2,900 square feet, zoned R-5 and appraised for $155,000. Although it’s 1973 construction doesn’t designate it anywhere near historical, it does provide a rather intriguing offering.
For those that long to be like those on HGTV who live in a former cannery or machine shop, here’s your chance. Or of course the location provides for a great multi-family site very close to the Arizona Country Club.
Let us know if you are interested in this property, and we can help you place a sealed bid.
“Firehouse Lofts” anyone?
