Scottsdale Resort and Conference Center McCormick Ranch

Major Renovation Announcement by Destination Hotels

Scottsdale Resort and Conference Center will start a $9 million renovation on July 1 that will enhance and transform this wonderful McCormick Ranch resort, Destination Hotels announced today. Destination Hotels said this will be the only Phoenix-area resort in their portfolio to be renovated this year.

A re-branding effort will also take place, with the new name being The Scottsdale Resort at McCormick Ranch, A Destination Hotel. The first phase of renovation will include a new restaurant and lobby bar, remodeling of the main pool, and the addition of outdoor meeting and event space and a refresh of guest rooms.

PHX Architects and SB Design will lead the renovations to update the resort while retaining the charm of the property.

“The goal of the renovation is to maximize the aesthetic potential of the romantic, Spanish architecture and beautiful grounds of The Scottsdale Resort, elevating the overall guest experience and amenities,” said Kevin Regan, senior vice president of operations, Western region, for Destination Hotels. “This property is situated in an upscale community centrally-located but just enough off the beaten path that it is a bit of a hidden gem within this world-class travel destination.”

Changes and additions for Phase 1 of renovations

The lobby restaurant will be updated with an open-air kitchen, new furnishings to go along with a new dining concept and menu. A new bar in the middle of the lobby will serve coffee, juices, snacks and light breakfast. In the afternoon & evenings, craft beers and wine will be available along with live entertainment.

The lobby will also feature the re-positioning of the concierge desk to open the space and enhance views of the main pool. The main pool will include a new full-service restaurant and bar, 16 new cabanas, a shaded trellis in the water, and a large water feature. The pool is to be expanded to be 2.5 times larger than the existing one. 76 rooms will be converted to king rooms, for a new total of 130 king rooms.

The four existing tennis courts will be removed and replaced with two event lawns and one sport court in an effort to establish the property as a premier meetings and events destination.

A second phase of renovations is planned for Summer 2016 to celebrate the property’s 40th anniversary.

This is an exciting announcement for the residents of McCormick Ranch and other surrounding Central Scottsdale and Paradise Valley neighborhoods. Many local events are held at this beautiful hotel, and it’s identification by Destination Hotels for it’s international potential will only make living on McCormick Ranch that much better.
